Dehydrated Mushrooms Directions

Step 1:

Clean the mushrooms by gently brushing off debris or rinsing briefly under cool water. Pat dry thoroughly. Slice, chop, or dice as desired. For this batch, mushrooms were sliced approximately 1/4 inch thick using a chef’s knife.

Step 2:

Arrange the mushrooms in a single layer on dehydrator trays. Avoid overlapping to allow proper airflow. Even spacing improves consistent drying.

Step 3:

Dehydrate at 125°F (52°C) for approximately 6 hours to start. Continue drying until mushrooms are dry and leathery to slightly crisp, depending on slice thickness. They should feel dry throughout with no remaining interior moisture.

Step 4:

Allow the mushrooms to cool completely before weighing and storing. Store in airtight containers in a cool, dark place. For long-term storage, vacuum sealing or freezing can extend shelf life.
